Trails are closed and we are looking forward to the upcoming season! Trail clearing help needed, please email info@voyageursnowmobile.com if interested.
The trails have a lot of water under them where we are crossing swamps. It's going to take a while for everything to freeze up. Pack them down if you can do it safely. Watch for gates that haven't been opened yet.
Now that we are past Christmas we can spend more time clearing the trails. Please post what has been checked, cleared, packed, and statuses on the Facebook page and I'll try to compile daily. Pictures are helpful also. As of now, the town trails were clear before the snow and have been checked after. The swamps are still unfrozen and lakes have marginal ice. Some clearing has been done south of Isabella but the unfrozen swamp issue is more critical there. South of Kane Lake got checked today. Early reports indicated that some areas are completely blocked from hanging trees from the heavy snow. In the process of checking and clearing, please be safe and pack the trail wider so it has a chance to freeze. The Tuckers won't be able to groom until everything is frozen wide enough. The USFS form required for working on their land will be posted soon with information on how to get that filled out. The link below will lead to the On the Road with Jason Davis segment about our John Allen Brandt Memorial Shelter. Mr. Davis and his editor did a great job, and we thank them very much! A few things we should have written down for them are as follows; 1- the club maintains over 100 miles of trail including 90+ on the grant-in-aid system (vs. 50 in the segment) 2- John's mother's name is Robbie (not Brandi) 3- the date of his accident was 2-19-11. I just wanted to clarify this, and don't wish to diminish the work done by Mr. Davis or his editor. We didn't have anything on paper to give them. Thanks to them for a great job! Please enjoy! http://kstp.com/article/26/ We're dedicating the John Allen Brandt Memorial Shelter this coming Saturday, Sept. 15th. We will have our monthly meeting at the Dixie Saloon and Deli at 9:00 a.m., with the dedication to follow. We will be barbequing at the shelter site, and celebrating all the hard work and fun that John brought to our organization. The shelter is located one mile south of the Bailey Road on the Yukon trail, and can be accessed by pickup and/or atv. I'll post a map later today, with more details to follow.
![]() Here is the beginning of the new John Brandt Memorial Shelter. We had a great crew who donated a bunch of time, tools, and made it a fun day! It's rough dimensions are 7x14 for the enclosed part, with the same sized porch. We will be working on it again on May 5th. We'll meet at the Dixie Saloon at 8 a.m. for a meeting and breakfast, then up to the site.
